Clown sightings arrive in Eunice

Eunice has joined the places where creepy clown sightings have been reported.
There have been six clown sightings in Eunice since Sunday, according to the Eunice Police Department’s radio dispatch logs.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot views the clown sightings as hoaxes.
“We’ve had couple of reports of clown sighting,” he said. “Nothing confirmed. As a matter of fact, I don’t even have the names of the people who claim they’ve seen the clowns. When police officers responded, we never saw a clown. None of my policemen have seen a clown.”
Fontenot added, “The only legitimate clown I know of in Eunice is Lolo and we are not worried about her.”
Lolo is a professional clown in Eunice, he explained.
“The police officers have yet to spot a clown so it is all unconfirmed stuff. And, I do believe if people are seeing a clown once in a while in Eunice, I really believe it is somebody who seen all this stuff on Facebook and said, ‘Boy, wouldn’t that be fun?’”
Fontenot is sticking to his view the clown sightings are about pranksters.
“I have instructed my officers that if they do see someone wearing a clown mask or clown makeup and they are disguising themselves, other than Lolo because she is approved, to arrest them,” he said.
The fine for illegal masking is up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $500, or both, the chief said.
