Eunice man arrested for violating protective order

Others in parish arrested for domestic violence

Brian Keith Gotreaux, 46, of Eunice, was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department Wednesday after violating a protective order.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said “No one should suffer these domestic issues whether it is verbal altercations, violation of protection orders or physical abuse. Any relationship that becomes violent needs to be addressed immediately. There are local and state agencies that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for shelters and counseling. We have a zero tolerance for domestic abuse and will arrest the predominate aggressor in every case.”
Gotreaux, of the 1400 block of Lawrence Street, violated the court order issued by the judge, which ordered him to stay away from and have no contact with this wife, Guidroz said. His bond was set at $5,000.
Four other men from around the parish were arrested on Wednesday for charges of domestic violence.
Ryan Keith Mayo, 32, of the 1600 block of Prudence Highway in Church Point, was arrested for second degree battery, Guidroz said. His bond was set at $7,500
Deputies arrested Mayo after he beat his girlfriend and broke her front teeth, Guidroz said. Deputies reported the girlfriend’s entire left side of her face as swollen fromher eyes to her jaw bone, Guidroz said. She also had scratches and red marks on her neck, Guidroz said. Reports indicate Mayo had dragged her out of the house and took her keys and cell phone so she could not leave, Guidroz said. The woman was able to escape and hid under a neighbor’s porch until police arrived, and she was hospitalized due to her injuries, Guidroz said.
Shane Matthew Faul, 49, of the 400 block of Menard Road in Cankton, was arrested on two counts of simple battery involving domestic violence, Guidroz said. No bond was set for Faul.
Faul was arrested after his stepson observed him attacking his mother by putting his fingers into her eyes, Guidroz said. Faul’s wife was able to escape and began punching Faul in the face, Guidroz said. Faul was then subdued by his stepson until police arrived, Guidroz said. The altercation began as a verbal argument about the two’s relationship then turned violent, Guidroz said.
Kenneth Wayne Leger, 55, of the 10100 block of Hwy. 190 in Lawtell, was arrested on a charge of simple battery involving domestic violence, Guidroz said. His bond was set at $2,500.
Leger was arrested after his live in girlfriend of five years was struck by Leger with an unknown object, Guidroz said. Deputies reported seeing a large amount of blood and a laceration to the girlfriends head, Guidroz said. The verbal argument started when Leger was confronted by his girlfriend for drinking and taking his medicine, Guidroz said. Leger’s girlfriend left the home and went to a friend’s home to see if she could stay the night, Guidroz said. When she returned home to retrieve some belongings, she stated she was attacked by Leger, Guidroz said.
Robert Charles Presley, 26, of the 100 block of Notre Reve Lane in Sunset, was arrested on a charge of simple battery involving domestic violence, Guidroz said. Presely's bond was set at $2,500.
Presley was arrested after neighbors alerted the sheriff’s department that a woman was yelling and being chased by a male subject, Guidroz said. Deputies located the female and observed her face swollen and she apparently was hit several times by her ex-boyfriend, Presley, Guidroz said. The victim stated that she was seven months pregnant, and Presley had left earlier that day then returned around 2 a.m. drunk, Guidroz said. She was trying to leave and was grabbed by Presley and he began punching her in the face, Guidroz said. She was able to escape but Presley chased her saying that he was going to kill her, Guidroz said. The victim was able to call 911 on her cell phone and dropped the phone on the ground as a call for help until the police arrived, Guidroz said.
“On June 1, 2016, domestic violence and violation of court orders topped the list for arrest in St. Landry Parish this week," Guidroz said. "Deputies with the sheriff’s office along with outside agencies investigated several cases of domestic abuse which led to the incarceration of five suspects.”
