Man arrested for aggravated arson

One person has been arrested for aggravated arson at a house at 413 Liberty St. on Sunday.
Eunice Police identified the arrested man as Fredrick Stevens, 31, of the 1400 block of Jacob Road, Eunice.
Stevens apparently poured gasoline around the house with people inside of it and then ignited the gas, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Two other fires occurred on Sunday.
At 2:13 p.m. Eunice firefighters responded to a call at 250 Childs Street where a house was totally engulfed in flames, Fire Chief Michael Arnold said.
The house, owned by Bob Morris, had occupants inside, a female and male, at the time of the fire, Arnold said. They escaped on their own, and were treated at the scene by paramedics. The female was taken by ambulance to Acadian Medical Center, and the male was flown to a Baton Rouge hospital, he said.
The house was a total loss and is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal.
At about 1:20 p.m. Sunday, Eunice firefighters responded to a grass fire off of North Cane Street, Arnold said.
Another fire, at 2:34 a.m. Tuesday occurred at 701 Carron Street, Arnold said.
The house was under renovations and was not occupied, he said.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
