Man assaulted by shotgun-wielding man

A 62-year-old man was threatened with a shotgun then beaten with the gun in an attempted armed robbery at about 1 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Nimitz Street, Eunice police report.
The victim was treated and released at Acadian Medical Center.
The man was walking northbound on Nimitz Street when an unidentified black male ran up to him from behind and pointed a shotgun in his face, the victim told police.
The shotgun-toting man demanded, “Give all your damn money,” the victim reported.
The would-be robber moved the barrel of the shotgun from the face of the victim and a struggle ensued.
The victim said he was twice struck in the face with the butt of the shotgun and, after he fell to the ground, he was struck four or five times in his left knee with the butt of the shotgun.
The victim was able to get up and run to his cousin’s house in the 600 block of Faris Street.
The shotgun-wielding man ran south on Nimitz Street to parked vehicle believed to be a 2012 to 2015 model silver, four-door Honda Civic. The car was parked a residence in the 600 block of Nimitz Street.
There were four unidentified black males inside the car, which traveled south on Nimitz Street, the victim reported.
The victim suffered a bruise to the left side of his face, his left upper gums were bleeding and his left knee cap was swollen, police report.
