Benjamin J. Dedon, 57, of Krotz Springs, was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department Tuesday after officers seized seized guns, marijuana, pills and $28,000 in cash from his home, said Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a news release.

Once inside Dedon's residence, agents recovered a AR-15, SKS, and AK-47 rifle along with four semi-automatic pistols and revolvers in the calibers of 9mm to 45 calibers spread throughout the residence, Guidroz said. Agents also recovered marijuana packaged in sandwich bags for distribution, along with scales and grinders, Guidroz said.

Narcotics detectives arrest Krotz Springs man, seize guns, drugs and cash

Benjamin J. Dedon, 57, of Krotz Springs, was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department Tuesday after officers seized seized guns, marijuana, pills and $28,000 in cash from his home, said Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a news release.
“St. Landry Parish is not a place to set up a drug distribution business," Guidroz said. "My agents work the highways, neighborhoods, and throughout St. Landry Parish. We have a zero tolerance for the illegal drug trade and will do everything in our power to keep our kids safe. More arrests are expected in this case."
Dedon, of the 300 block of Florida Street, was arrested on four counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance; possession with the intent to a distribute Schedule I (marijuana); possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule IV (Xanex); possession with the intent to distribute a A Schedule II oxycodone hydrochloride; possession with the intent to distribute a Schedule II morphine sulfate; illegal carrying of weapons (in the presence of a CDS); possession of drug paraphernalia: illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17 years of age; and transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses (money or any assets derived from drug transactions), Guidroz said. Dedon's bond was set at $68,750 for the four counts of distribution, Guidroz said.
“On May 17, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Team conducted a search warrant on the residence of Benjamin J. Dedon of 300 Florida Street, Krotz Springs, Louisiana after making several controlled drug purchases from Dedon," Guidroz said.
Once inside the residence, agents recovered a AR-15, SKS, and AK-47 rifle along with four semi-automatic pistols and revolvers in the calibers of 9mm to 45 calibers spread throughout the residence, Guidroz said. Agents also recovered marijuana packaged in sandwich bags for distribution, along with scales and grinders, Guidroz said. A wide variety of pills was also found packaged in containers to sell along with over $28,000 in cash, Guidroz said. Debon advised the narcotic agents that the money found was money he was saving for his son’s education, Guidroz said.
