A front page story announced the birth of quadruplets to Shelly and Tommy Trosclair. The babies were Tyler, Lynzi, Layni and Alec.
Bishop Edward O’Donnell spoke to about 85 students at the St. Edmund cafeteria. Speaking to the Northwest Vocation Club, he urged the students to take seriously that God calls people to the ministry. Youth directors were Jean Ella Guillory, St. Mathilda of Eunice; Lela Granger, Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Duralde; Yogi Sittig, St. Thomas More and LSUE Catholic Student Center, of Eunice; Stacy LaFleur, Angie Aguillard and Jerry Soileau, St. Anthony, of Eunice; and Joan Douget, St. Augustine, Basile.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Savoy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple renewed with vows with the Rev. Leonard Kempski officiating.
Zachary Soileau, a third-grader at Glendale Elementary, received the Citizenship Award for the second year. He is the son of Donna Reed Harper and Dale Soileau.
