Nearly 5% voted early in St. Landry Parish

Nearly 3,000 people or 5 percent voted early in St. Landry Parish out of the 58,599 voters registered for the Nov. 8 election.
Early voting began Oct. 25 and ends Tuesday .
Early voting according to the Louisiana Secretary of State and as of Thursday were:

Old Glory Relay

Runners for the Old Glory Relay ran through Eunice at about noon Tuesday on their way to Tampa, Florida.
After the runners left VFW Post 8971, Post Commander Terry Matte, said, “It is great. This is what America is about. United we stand, divided we fall.”

Board puts its stamp on contract

St. Landry Parish School Board members began tweaking the next superintendent’s contract, but didn’t alter the $138,000 base salary at a special meeting Monday.
The board meets again on Nov. 3 and the contract is almost certain to come up on the agenda.

Experience Louisiana Festival meets with success

Up to 6,000 people attended the second annual Experience Louisiana Festival on the LSUE campus Saturday and Sunday, according to Dwight Jodon, one of the Eunice Club organizers.
“Really good weekend,” he said even noting the exceptional weather.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
