Parish Council drops talk of new split of racino money

The St. Landry Parish Council dropped a proposal to talk about racino money, but that didn’t stop three mayors and a city councilman from speaking against any change in how the money from Evangeline Downs is split.

Veterans honored, thanked

The selfless service of military veterans was honored in a ceremony at VFW Post 8971 Friday — Veterans Day.

Medical marijuana project needs $11M in private funding to get growing

The state-mandated initiative to grow marijuana and process it for medical purposes will need at least $11 million in private funding to get off the ground, and it will be at least 18 months before any product sales are made, according to a project concept recently released by the LSU AgCenter.

Audit exposes Evangeline Parish sheriff’s sloppy management

It seems to be apparent with the release of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office’s most recent audit that the sheriff’s financial troubles have less to do with the lack of funds and more to do with poor management of the department’s money.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
