‘Take Back The Night’ domestic violence awareness event set for Tuesday at city hall

In order to combat the fear women face going out alone at night and to increase awareness of violence directed against women, the St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center will host a Take Back the Night March and Vigil.
Also sponsoring the event are Chat-A-While Social Club and Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden club members.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. at the city hall. The march will leave city hall and proceed down Park Avenue, circle around the Eunice Park Circle, and return back to City Hall.
Take Back the Night will draw attention to critical issues of sexual assault and domestic violence in addition to the march, the event will feature a personal account from a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Because October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and time when darker hours prevail, Take Back the Night will be hled to mark these events.
Take Back the Night is organized by an alliance of local community service agencies, religious organizations, governmental entities, businesses, and private citizens in the St. Landry Parish area.
Community members, students, church groups are invited to attend.
For more information, call 337-585-4673, or contact Paula Anderson at 337-580-1686.
Bows of white, teal, and purple will be placed at different Eunice businesses. White represents victims, teal represents sexual assault, and purple represents domestic violence.
