A Cowboy-Sing-Along at OakLane Wellness

The Best Years “Such Fun” group of Eunice held a “Cowboy-Sing-Along” on Oct. 14 for the residents of Oaklane Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
Seven cowgirls dressed in their cowgirl attire (boots, hats, bandanas, etc.) led the sing-along for the residents. Each resident also wore a western bandana for the hot and dusty trail ahead.
Before the Cowboy Jubilee began, the residents were versed in Cowboy Lingo, “Howdy Partner” instead of Hello; Yep, Nope instead of yes and no, and the favorites, “Giddy Up” and “Yee Ha.”
Hitching a ride on a cyclone, all the way from Kansas City, Kansas was “Wild and Wooly Izetta”; from the Lone Star State of Texas, roping and riding “Buckaroo Chris”; from, by golly, Gully, Texas high kicking, never to be tamed “Mustang Janice”; from our home state of Louisiana it was heard tale that this girl could lasso a raging storm and turn it into sunshine, “Riding the Trail Cecile”; hailing from Cheyenne, Wyoming we had fast draw “Bing Bang Elaine”; and next, going by her given name was “Pistol Packing Pam” from Pecos; and the last cowgirl, well paint my toenails and curl my hair if it wasn’t “Ranger Deb”, bravest on the Old Chisholm Trail.
Belting out the old familiar cowboy melodies, the residents sang Old West songs like “Home on the Range”, Down In the Valley”, Git Along Little Doggies”, and many more favorites. The residents even tried their hand at yodeling and coyote howls.
Everyone had a rip-tearing good time, but at last, at the end of the trail they had to say farewell and so long to their saddle pals. It was time for the Seven Amigos to saddle up their pintos and ride out under the blue Montana sky, singing “Happy Trails to You Until We Meet Again.” ...Yee Ha!
