Domestic Violence Awareness Walk and Vigil set Oct. 17

October is declared and recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness.
The Chat-A-While Social and Civic Club and the Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club, will sponsor a “Domestic Violence Stops At Home” themed Candlelight Vigil and Walk on Thursday, Oct. 17 beginning at 5 p.m.
The public is invited to join the walk which will begin at the Eunice City Hall and conclude at the Eunice Circle Park on Park Avenue where there will be a Candlelight Vigil for all victims of Domestic Violence. Lisa Johnson, ZUMBA Instructor, will be on hand for the Oct. 17 event to assist with warm up exercise and techniques before the walk.
To kick-off and show support of “Making a Difference- Stop Domestic Violence” throughout the month of October the Eunice Fire Departmental vehicles, Eunice Police Departmental vehicles, and City Marshal vehicles will ‘sport’ a lavendar colored ribbon bow.
Any individuals wishing to support the cause by tagging a lavendar bow on their vehicles or business doors can do so by purchasing these bows at most floral shops in Eunice at a cost of $5 each.
Any monetary donations will also be accepted for the Domestic Violence Awareness event. One can make checks payable to St. Landry/Evangeline Sexual Assault Center.
