Gator Mike visits at East Elementary

Left, Gator Mike aka Michael Lavergne, who appears on the Animal Planet television show “Call of the Wildman,” was a guest speaker at East Elementary Friday morning. Third-graders from Jennifer Montalvo, Marcia Ortego and Elizabeth Romero’s classes had the opportunity to ask different questions regarding alligator hunts & trapping, turtles, and swamp lands. The third-graders were studying a Social Studies unit on La. Wetlands and a Science lesson on animals. Alongside with Gator Mike was Kevin Constantine. The duo brought with them a collection of alligator turtle shells, turtle head, and an alligator head. Lavergne is orginally from Church Point, and Constantine is from Forked Island.
