Stagecoach

A replica of Wells Fargo Stagecoach

A 10/scale replica of a Wells Fargo Stagecoach was what Jack Ward “tinkered” worked, crafted with since October.
He completed his project Dec. 16, with intentions of giving the replica to some of his closest friends, Steve and Angela Wetch of East Bernard, Texas.
Ward said, “I built the stagecoach for friends in Texas. They own two ranches, Rio Lago Ranch and the Rivendell Ranch. Our grandson, Chad is married to their daughter Stephanie. We have plans of visiting at Christmas, and I will give the stagecoach as a gift.”
Ward ordered the stagecoach from an Italian-owned company out of California. The replica came as a complete kit, with detailed instructions, all pieces, including, chests, Windchester rifles, hand brakes, tongue for a team of four horses, bags of supplies of salt, flour, sugar, potatoes, cloth roll-down curtains for the windows, and more.
Ward added his own touches to his completed project. The stagecoach sits upon a board, with sand included, and rocks from Colorado. Two rocks on the back-end of the stagecoach are Fools Gold rocks. He also added two wooden signs of the friends’ ranches, “Rio Lago Ranch” and “Rivendell Ranch.”
Ward encases the stagecoach with a glass case which serves as protection and a dust-free solution.
With Christmas plans to travel and visit their friends and family members, he packed his suitcase of clothes and the stagecoach. He said, “It’s a surprise, they have no idea.”
Ward said that it took alot and all of his patience to complete the stagecoach. “The kit claimed it was designed for intermediate builders. Hmnn.... not too sure about that,” laughed Ward.
Ward always had a love and hobby of building different projects. As a younger lad he built many model airplanes, and said one of his largest project was a Harpsichord... “It’s a small keyboard type of baby piano,”
Ward retired with McDermott out of Houston, an oilfield, offshore construction company, putting in 22 years of service. Ward, married to Verna Ward, has been a Eunice resident for the past 9 years.
