Crowley man to head insurance board

Roland Dartez, of Crowley, executive director of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana, is the state president of the Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employers.
The Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employers was formed in 1991 to promote and protect the right of businesses to self-insure. The organization serves as a spokesman at the state level on issues affecting self-insurers and workers’ compensation. It also acts as a statewide information service and an educational forum for Louisiana employers.
“Private and public employers and their employees benefit from a fair and responsible system that provides adequate compensation and appropriate medical care, and that’s what LASIE advocates,” Dartez said.
Gary Patureau, executive director of the organization, said, “We have a ten-member board, and then we have an Advisory Council, which is sort of our training ground…They know all the responsibilities and the financials,” he explained. “This is a very exciting board because they are looking at the long-term future of LASIE.”
Patureau noted that this board has been “very supportive” of the organization’s expansion and added, “There’s a lot of energy here and commitment to positive change in the workers’ compensation system and all self-insurance.”
