Decomposed body found in Eunice wooded area
Staff Report

A body found Monday in a wooded area of Eunice is now believed to be a homicide, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
But investigators are still unable to place a name to the body, he said.
An autopsy was to be performed Tuesday.
On Monday, a man running rabbit dogs in Eunice found a decomposed body believed to be of a man in a wooded area about 100 yards north of the 200 block of East Magnolia Street, Fontenot said.
Police received the call about the body at about 1 p.m. Monday, he said.
The body appeared to have been in the woods for about a week, he said.
The clothing at the scene was for cold weather, Fontenot.
Fontenot said it appeared to him the person may have been seated and then fell to the ground to die.
Fontenot said there is a trail through the area and the body was about 40 yards off the trail.
There is one missing person in Eunice, he said, but it is not known if the body is of that person.
