Election app available from secretary of state

Secretary of State Tom Schedler reminded registered voters statewide that the 2016 Presidential Election will be held Tuesday with polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
In a news release, Scheduler offered:
— Download the GeauxVote Mobile smartphone app to sign up for Election Day text notifications, find polling locations, review sample ballots and monitor election results in real-time.
— Sample ballots are available at www.sos.la.gov.
— Bring a photo ID to the polls. Voters without an ID will be required to fill out an affidavit but will be allowed to vote.
— By law, each voter is allowed 3 minutes to cast their ballot in order to expedite long lines.
— Real-time election results will be posted to the Secretary of State’s website in several formats.
— Allow three to five minutes between refreshing the results for optimal functionality.
This election includes more than 220 offices to be filled statewide, with 728 candidates qualified. In addition, 78 propositions in 38 parishes will be decided as well as six statewide constitutional amendments.
