Maj. Elzia Ledoux of Eunice has been awarded the Silver Star, the U.S. Army’s third-highest decoration, for actions leading his squadron of 16 B-17 bombers in missions from England over enemy-occupied Europe. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ledoux.
Police Chief Cilton Jeansonne said 49 untagged dogs have been shot and killed in the city’s anti-rabies campaign.
Five sons and a step-son of Mrs. George Eaton, widow of Dr. Julius Stagg, are serving in the armed forces.
The Tri-Parish Bank and Trust building at the corner of Main and Park will open on Jan. 10. E.A. Veillon will be cashier of the new bank. It has been 17 years since the city had a home bank.
Rationing notes: Sugar stamp in Book 4 is good for 5 pounds through Jan. 15; Stamp 18 in Book 1 is good for 1 pair of shoes; Period 2 fuel coupons are good through Jan. 25.
