Steve Bollich, owner of College Junction, wasn’t ready to predict the crawfish season. And, neither was Matt Miller, a crawfish farmer. Retailers were buying crawfish for $1.50 a pound and selling them boiled for about $3 a pound.
A tree was planted at the Eunice Natural Walking Trail and Park in memory of Jerry Hoffpauir. The tree was donated by Myra Miller and her daughters, Megan and Adrienne.
Class winners of an essay contest in Mrs. Ortego’s fifth grade class at Central Middle School were Sarah Thibodeaux, Kourt Deshotel, Emily Oegea and Abbey Guillory.
Ike Rhines scored 25 points the Eunice High Bobcat 64-61 win over Cecilia’s Bulldogs.
St. Edmund Lady Jays remained unbeaten in district play with a 48-36 win over the Basile Bearcats. Lady Jay scorers included Lindsay Andrus, 16; Jordan Heinen, 8; Renee Wallett, 12; Megan Wimberly, 8; and Jennifer Powers, 2. Basile scorers included Dana Granger, 11; Jamie Fruge, 6; Ashlyn Leldene, 4; and Kayra Lafleur, 15.
