Eunice High Principal Johnny Bourque was among four candidates considered for the St. Landry Parish school superintendent. The other final candidates were Lanny Moreau, Douglas Chance and J.D. Thomas. Bourque didn’t get the job, but did go on to be superintendent in Acadia Parish.
Students of the Week at Highland Elementary were Joshua Janice, Naomi Patin, Tiffany Richard, Rashita Guillory, Brittany Thibodeaux, Wilfred Martel, Andre Guillory, Ben Jordan, Dwight Logan, Seth Duplechin, Brandon Guillory, Elijah Joseph and Kalyn Green.
The 1990-2000 dance team at St. Edmund High School was named. There were Lauren Reviere, Adrienne Courville, Andrea Rozas, Sara Fuselier, Pattie Bourgeois, Suzannah York, Amy Ruppert, Courtney Tatman and Laura Feucht.
Three Glendale Elementary students received certificates for participating in the first Newspaper in Education Contest. There were Jami Stelly, Daniel Anding and Hali Lafleur. They were photographed with their principal, Phyllis Ortego.
