The Courtyard at Nick’s and Matthew Vidrine were first-place winners in the Louisiana Main Street annual awards program. Nick’s won for best adaptive re-use of a building and Vidrine was volunteer of the year.
Keith and Christine Aucoin received the Garden of the Week award from the Eunice Bulb and Blossom Club for their yard at 1410 West Gum.
Eunice Junior Auxiliary members Angelle Driggs and Mary Miller spoke to the Eunice Rotary Club as the Junior Auxiliary raised money for a playground at the Eunice ballpark being built on Sittig Road.
All-District tennis players at Eunice School were recognized. They were Nick Fuselier, Dela Wood, Brad Richard, Hannah Rockett, Caleb Smith, Dani Klein, Chris Tucker, Lindseay Conner, Brett Bergeron, Aimee Conner and Chris Gaspard.
The Eunice Board of Aldermen scheduled a September vote on a 10-year, 14.48-mill property tax to fund pay raises for employees.
Rebecca Moser received a doctor of optometry degree at the University of Houston. The article announcing her degree stated she was the 12th person in her family to become an optometrist. Others in her family of optometrists were her mother, Rhonda Fink Moser Pucheu and her late father, Michael Philip Moser.
