Experience Louisiana Festival meets with success

By Harlan Kirgan Editor

Up to 6,000 people attended the second annual Experience Louisiana Festival on the LSUE campus Saturday and Sunday, according to Dwight Jodon, one of the Eunice Club organizers.
“Really good weekend,” he said even noting the exceptional weather.
The attendance is an estimate because while the festival collected a $5 parking fee, some festival-goers went to the exhibition baseball and softball games without going to festival parking lots, he said.
Jodon also said the festival is in the back and will have seed money for next year’s event.
“We are in the black and that is fantastic,” he said.
The festival’s mission other than its two days of informative and fun events is to raise money for scholarships at Louisiana State University Eunice.
“The thing that stood out for me was lots of families,” Jodan said.
The campus setting allowed space for children to run freely and have a good time, he said.
“We are very pleased that this is a setting that is educational and kid-friendly and gobs of space,” he said.
The festival had a New Orleans flavor with a second line parade led by the Hacienda Brass Band and Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser.
