Fatal crashes down in St. Landry Parish
The number of fatal wrecks has dramatically dropped this year compared to 2014, according to the Louisiana Traffic Records Data Report, which is compiled annually by the LSU Highway Safety Research Group.
In St. Landry Parish there were 24 fatal wrecks in 2014. Of those, 17 involved alcohol.
There were 21 fatal wrecks in rural St. Landry Parish in 2014. Fatal wrecks occurred at Eunice, Opelousas and Washington in 2014.
As of Nov. 16, there have been 13 fatal wrecks in St. Landry Parish — 11 in rural areas and one each in Krotz Springs and Sunset.
In Acadia Parish, there were 13 fatal wrecks in 2014, which is the same number as of Nov. 16 this year.
In Evangeline Parish, there were two fatal wrecks in 2014. One of those crashes involved alcohol. One of the fatal wrecks occurred in a rural area and one in Ville Platte.
As of Nov. 16, seven fatal wrecks have occurred in Evangeline Parish and three of those are alcohol-related.
