Fireworks are legal Saturday

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, fireworks will be legal to use beginning Saturday, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Fireworks can be used in the city until July 5 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
“Bottle rockets or penny rockets are prohibited at all times including the possession and sale of them,” he said.
On the Fourth of July the fireworks display at the Eunice Recreation Complex on Sittig Road will bring a change.
Fontenot said from 6 p.m. until after the fireworks only eastbound traffic will be allowed on Sittig Road.
The road became impassable during the last year’s fireworks display, he said.
Following the display, which lasts about 45 minutes, traffic from the complex will be routed either west or east on Sittig Road.
