Moody appointed as new city clerk

The Eunice City Council heeded the recommendation of the mayor to appoint Ginny Moody as the new city clerk at Tuesday night’s regular monthly meeting.
Ginny Moody was accepted unanimously by council members as she was previously acting as interim city clerk and long-time administrative assistant in the mayor’s office.
“I would ask that you consider and vote ‘yes’ to grant me the privilege of working with her,” said Mayor Claud “Rusty” Moody. “And grant all of us the privilege of working with her as the new Eunice City Clerk.” The two are not related.
Alderman-at-large Jack Burson made a motion to approve the mayor’s recommendation.
“It’s been my pleasure to have worked with her throughout my tenure on the council,” said Burson. “And I don’t think anybody would do a better job.”
The position was previously held by Earlene LeJeune – who took took a leave of absence during the summer and then retired.
Mayor Moody said Wednesday that he did not post notice of a the city clerk vacancy, opting instead to promote from within.
Ginny Moody, the mayor said, has been a city employee for 30 years.
He said he had not yet set her salary in the new post.
Ginny Moody’s acceptance of the appointment will leave a void to fill at the front desk of the Eunice administration office.
In other council business, the mayor encouraged folks to attend the Main Street Memories on Saturday, November 16 starting at 7 a.m. as well as a wine and cheese party at 3 p.m. at The Nutcracker Museum in downtown.
Mayor Moody also stated that the City of Eunice offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Looking even further ahead, the mayor announced that the Eunice Kiwanis Christmas Parade will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12 starting at 5 p.m.
