Officials: Proceed with your cleanup but document everything

By Harlan Kirgan Editor

Residents with flood damage should proceed with their cleanup, but document the damage.
That’s the advice of Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot and Parish President Bill Fontenot.
In Eunice, city crews have been picking up debris left at the curb, Scott Fontenot said.
“They are advising people to call parish government to report damage, he said. “People still need to call FEMA or go online.”
The parish number to report flood damage is 337-948-368.
Fontenot said flood victims should document everything including the names of officials they talk with about their flood damage.
Residents should take time-stamped photos of the flood damage, he said.
Bill Fontenot said flood victims should proceed like it “all on your tab.”
Parish residents should also place their debris by the road.
“We are in the process in determining whether we will be able to pick it up by the roads. We are working on that issue now,” he said.
Activating the collection contracts may take up to two weeks or longer, he said.
Residents may also take debris to the landfill.
