Pastors outline plans for Faith Christian Worship Center

By Claudette Olivier Staff Reporter

Pastors Cardell and Heather Ardoin have done many things in the community since opening their church in 2009, and the leaders have two big projects in the works for next year.
“Once a month, we plan to cook meals for the local police department at the station,” Heather, a leader at Faith Christian Worship Center, said. “We want to let them know that they are appreciated, honored and prayed for.”
“Another thing I am really excited to do is our Building Sons program. Many young boys in our community don’t have a father figure. We want to teach them how to cut grass, fish and change a tire. We have volunteer mentors, and we will have the program once a month. I hope to spread the program to other churches.”
The Ardoins, both natives of Eunice, began their ministerial training in 2001 and were ordained under pastors Mark and Trina Hankins of Mark Hankins Ministries in Alexandria. Faith Christian Worship Center is a non-denominational, multi-cultural church located at 179 Stanford Road in Eunice.
On Sunday, regular services are at 10:30 a.m., and teen services are at 6 p.m. At 5:15 a.m. on Mondays there is prayer service, and another regular service is held Wednesday at 7 p.m. Another prayer service is also held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
The worship center currently provides marriage counseling and teenage counseling, and Heather has a help DVD titled “The Stand,” which will soon be turned into a book.
“Ninety percent of those who come to our church for counseling have never even been to our church,” she said. “We want to rebuild marriages and families in the community.”
The church is also in the process of setting up a game room for local teens, and the room will have televisions, video game consoles and pool tables. The center is open from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sundays, and volunteers also play volleyball and football with the teens.
“We take them off streets and keep them out of trouble and minister the Gospel to them,” Heather said. “We started with four teens now we have 45.”
Over the years, the church has also helped feed several hundred local families with its food pantry and refurbished the teacher’s lounge at Eunice High School. Two years ago, the church bought turkeys for every officer on the police force, and it also assisted a single mother on the force with household items during the holidays so that she could focus her money on buying Christmas presents.
Heather has traveled nationally proclaiming the gospel and sharing her vision, and both pastors recently received training through the In Christ International Bible College of the Mark Hankins Ministries. They are both instructors and They plan to open a campus of the college in Eunice in the future.
“This program is also in prisons,” Heather said. “It is restoring the lives of those in prison.”
