St. Edmund names its teachers of the year

St. Edmund Catholic School has named its Teachers of the Year.
Honored for St. Edmund Elementary Teacher of the Year is Ann Fuselier Miller and Mary Anne Burke Bergeron holds the title of St. Edmund High School Teacher of the Year.
Fondly called “Annie,” Miller has been teaching for 22 years and 18 of those have been at Catholic schools.
Miller graduated from USL (ULL) with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in December of 1992 and began her teaching career immediately.
She has been teaching at St. Edmund Catholic School for the past 17 years.
She taught in Baton Rouge at St. George Catholic School for one year before moving to Church Point Elementary for four years.
Over the years, Miller has taught high school English, fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and-eighth-grade language arts.
She is presently teaching third-grade.
Miller has been married to Peter Miller for the past 20 years and they have four children enrolled at St. Edmund Catholic School; Hank, a senior; Maggie, a junior; Peter, a freshman and Greta, fourth grade.
St. Edmund High Teacher of the Year Mary Anne Burke Bergeron has nearly 25 years experience as a teacher.
She is currently teaching Spanish I, Spanish II, and eighth-grade Reading.
Her teaching career began as a fifth-grade teacher at St. Francis School in Iota where she taught for six years. Then she arrived at St. Edmund Elementary, teaching fifth-graders for 12 years.
Bergeron also taught Spanish, Accounting, Business English, Religion at St. Edmund High for the past six years.
She serves as JV and Varsity Quiz Bowl Moderator for the past two years and the school’s sponsor of Tri-Parish Foreign Language Festival.
Bergeron has served as Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for the past 23 years.
Bergeron, born in New Orleans, graduated from St. Joseph Academy of New Orleans and the University of New Orleans where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Business Education and a minor in Spanish.
She furthered her education at McNeese State University, earning a certification in Elementary Education.
Bergeron has been married for the past 35 years to Glenn Dale Bergeron and the couple has six children (Mandy, Missy, Celeste, Bradley, Brett, Corinne), all graduates of St. Edmund High School.
