Taster’s Choice tickets available for fundraiser for Community Health Center

Tickets are still available for The Eunice Community Health Center’s sixth annual Taster’s Choice Wednesday at LSUE.
Chef entries are also still being accepted. Registration is $25, and forms can be picked up at the center at 450 Moosa Blvd., Suite E in Eunice. Categories are professional and amateur and divisions are general entree, seafood, wild game, side dish and dessert.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature 28 dishes from 20 regional professional and amateur cooks. Cooking teams include Coushatta Casino Resort, Allons Manger, VFW Post 8971, Eunice Career and Technical Education Center and Ronnie’s Place.
Tasters will have the chance to sample dishes including entrees, side dishes and desserts, and they will also be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award. A five-person panel of judges will also select winners in the professional and amateur categories. Dishes served at past event events included crawfish, deer chili, sweet potato bisque and sauce piquant.
Live music will be provided by local musician Geno Delafose. There will also be silent and live auctions.
Tickets are $25 a person and can be purchased at the center, Maple Avenue Pharmacy and Thrifty Way in Basile.
Taster’s Choice is the center’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The center provides free and at-cost medical care for the working uninsured and under-insured people in the area. The event also helps support and fund the center’s free pharmacy. Last year, the center’s volunteer pharmacists filled 236,941 prescriptions, and in 2014, they filled 178,311 prescriptions.
