Former ag commissioner
BATON ROUGE – Arrangements are pending for former Agriculture Commissioner Gil Dozier. He died at age 79.
He was elected commissioner in 1975, serving one term before being defeated by Bob Odom. He was convicted on federal bribery and extortion charges in 1980. His term was commuted by President Ronald Reagan in 1986 to time served. He was an attorney.
Survivors include five children.
 
Restaurants owner
SHREVEPORT – Services will be Sept. 28 for restaurant owner Orland Chapman. He drowned in Cross Lake Tuesday. 
He was owner of Brothers’ Seafood restaurants in Shreveport and in Bossier City.
