Leroy Joel Stark

Leroy Joel "LJ" Stark passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the age of 86.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at University Baptist
in Eunice. Rev. Vernon Martindale will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
LJ is survived by two daughters, Claire Weaver and husband John and Cathy Ritter and husband
Ervin, both of Lafayette; three sons, Stephen and wife Laurie, Carl and wife Eileen both of Baton
Rouge, and Joel and wife Teri of DeRidder; two sisters Sibyl Young and Gloria Cline; thirteen
grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
LJ was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Joeline Menou; daughter Beth; his parents, Joel
Stark and Castella Prather; and three sisters, Mayonie Smith, Gladys West, and Jeanette Walker.
LJ was a retired Vice-Chancellor of Business at LSU at Eunice and was a member of the founding
faculty. He was a graduate of Eunice High School, ULL, and McNeese University.

organizations were University Baptist Church, 1094 LSUE Drive, Eunice, LA Freedom Baptist Church,
N. Martin Luther King, Eunice, LA; The Gideons International (Bibles), P.O. Box 1484 Eunice, LA; The
Welcome House of Maxie, 24292 Crowley-Eunice Hwy., Crowley, LA; and Acadian Baptist Center,
1202 Academy Drive, Eunice, LA.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The following morning visitation will be held at University Baptist from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
