Bobcats cruise past Pios

The Fourth Annual Joe Nagata Football Jamboree featured the Eunice High Bobcats against the Notre Dame Pioneers in Friday action at Blue Jay Field.
The Bobcats and the Pioneers split their squads, with the Cats traveling to Opelousas to play North Central in the St. Landry Parish Jamboree and the Pioneers heading to Lafayette for the Kiwanis Jamboree.
The Bobcats got off to a good start, taking possession at their own 17 and converting a first down on a 9-yard pass from Jaden Brasseaux to Jordan Ledet for a first down.
The Cats then drove 73 yards in 11 plays to take an 8-0 lead with 6:02 left in the first half.
Key plays on the drive included a 10-yard pass from Brasseau to Georrein Dupre, a 13-yard run by Dupre, and five carries for 32 yards by Avery Lee.
The touchdown came on a Brasseaux pass of 23 yards to Dashawn Vigers. Brasseaux and Vigers combined for the two point conversion on a pass play.
The Pios tried to answer back,driving down to the Eunice 40 before quarterback Garrett Bergeron was intercepted by Dameon Frank.
The Cats took possession at the Notre Dame 49. Kenneth Guillory ran for four yards and Brasseaux hit Ledet with a pass for two yards.
Brasseaux then teamed with Ledet on a 43-yard touchdown with 24 seconds left before the half. The PAT failed on an incomplete pass.
The Pioneers started the second half by driving the ball from their own 16 to the Bobcat 39. Key plays for the Pios came from Bergeron passes to Noah Bourgeois and Kaizer Lamm covering 18 and 14 yards, respectively.
The drive stalled, though, after Bergeron was sacked by Cade Richard on a third-and-10.
The Cats drove for their third touchdown, taking the ball down the field on a 61-yard drive.
Guillory ran 14 yards on the first play and Brasseaux connected with Vigers on two pass plays of 24 and 23 yards. Lee capped the drive with a two-yard run.
In Opelousas, the Bobcats claimed a 19-6 victory over North Central in the St. Landry Parish Jamboree. The Hurricanes returned an interception for a touchdown to take a 6-0 lead, but the Bobcats bounced back to score three unanswered touchdowns to claim the win.
The touchdowns came on a 12-run by Bailey Richardson, an 18-yard run by Jay Pitre, and a 16-yard run by Austin Phillips. Phillips added a PAT kick.
