Brown selected as Player of Week

He was a foot away from being the homecoming hero.

St. Edmund quarterback Drew Brown accounted for 345 yards and five touchdowns against Pointe Coupee Central, but it was the final play of the game that Blue Jay fans will remember for a long time.

Trailing 50-46 with eight seconds left at the PCC 4, Brown made a vailant attempt to score with a dive at the pylon but was ruled out of bounds short of the end zone and the game was called without stopping the clock.

Brown completed 17-of-30 passes for 235 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to Cullen Brown. The Blue Jay quarterback also gained 152 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns.

For his efforts, Brown was selected as the Eunice News Player of the Week for Oct. 20-26.

Iota running back Adam Ardoin gained 187 yards on 43 carries and a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 34-22 loss to Jennings.

Basile’s Kendrick Ceaser gained 169 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns in the Bearcats’ 34-0 win over East Beauregard. Ceaser also gained 55 yards on two catches with a score.

Bearcat quarterback Mark Ivory completed 9-of-13 passes with an interception and a touchdown toss against East Beauregard. Ivory also scored on a 2-yard run.

St. Edmund’s Zach LaFleur gained 152 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown and an interception against Pointe Coupee Central.

Church Point’s Deion Monroe gained 113 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns in the Bears’ 31-8 win over Port Barre.

Eunice High’s Alex Richard  gained 95 yards on seven carries, including a 20-yard touchdown run in the Bobcats’ 21-6 loss to Vermilion Catholic. Richard also completed 5-of-12 passes for 82 yards with two interceptions.
