DeQuincy sweeps Lady Cats

In a final preparation before district play starts, the Lady Cats continued to battle before falling 3-0 to DeQuincy Tuesday.
DeQuincy (9-4) earned a 25-17, 25-14,25-16 sweep over Eunice (0-9).
The Lady Cats open Division III, District 3 play today at Church Point before returning home Monday to face Opelousas and district foe Northwest on Tuesday.
The first match against DeQuincy proved to be a battle of runs by both teams.
Eunice jumped out to a 4-0 lead on strong serves by Angelle Ortego before DeQuincy answered with a 7-1 surge aided by kills from Ashlyn Smart and Zaria Anderson.
With Kelsea Ledoux serving, the Lady Cats forced three errors to give Eunice an 8-7 advantage.
After a 3-0 run by the Lady Tigers, Eunice responded with four points behinf Olivia Adamson’s serves to push the Lady Cats up, 12-11.
EHS held a 14-13 advantage before DeQuincy exploded on a 6-0 run behind strong serves by Sydney Lucuis.
The Lady Cats forced an error to close the margin to 18-15, but DeQuincy finished with an 7-2 run to earn the 25-17 win.
The second game was much like the opener as the two teams battled for control.
Eunice forced four ties at 2-2, 4-4, 6-6 and 8-8 behind strong play from Ali Rae Lejeune, Adamson and Ortego.
DeQuincy pushed 17-11 ahead with an 9-3 run as the Lady Tigers took advantage of several errors.
Justice James scored on a dink to help EHS close the gap to 18-13, but the Lady Tigers went on a 7-1 run to seal the 25-14 victory.
DeQuincy opened the final game with a 6-1 surge behind impressive play from Breann Marcantel along with kills from Smart and Lucuis.
A dig by Caroline Mire and a kill from Adamson helped EHS pull closer, 9-5.
DeQuincy answered with a 4-0 run, but Eunice battled back with a 6-2 surge to close the gap to 14-11 behind kills from Raquel Bernard and Kiana White.
The Lady Tigers increased its lead to 17-12 before two errors gave EHS a chance at 17-14.
Another hit into the net closed the gap to 20-16 but DeQuincy sealed the night with a 5-0 run to win 25-16.
