There was an empty chair where one of their biggest fans used to sit.
Sandra Carriere Ardoin, who was known as “Granny” to the St. Edmund softball team, died last Friday.
But she would be happy that the Lady Jays rallied in her memory to grab a 3-2 win over Church Point Monday.

Church Point’s Jones singled and Hannah Stanford walked in the top of the sixth but a double play and a strikeout by LaFleur stopped the rally.
Miller and Bieber walked with two outs in the bottom of the sixth as the Lady Jays seemed poised to grab the lead, but they were left stranded.
The Lady Bears threatened in the top of the seventh when Taylor Broach singled, advanced on a passed ball and raced to third a sacrifice by Mikayla Dupre.
But Lady Jay pitcher LaFleur struck out two in a row to leave Dupre at the corner and set up the final St. Edmund heroics.
LaFleur earned the win as she struck out eight, walked one and allowed two runs on six hits.
Higginbotham suffered the loss as she allowed three runs on five hits with four runs, four walks, three hitbatsmen and four strikeouts.
