Rayne runs past Lady Cats

The Rayne Lady Wolves picked up a 3-0 win over Eunice Tuesday night in a district battle.
After a three ties to open the first game, Rayne (2-10) went on a 6-0 run aided by kills from Tajane Butler and Kendal Edmond.
After EHS closed the gap to 10-5, Rayne went on a 6-1 surge to push ahead, 15-7.
After gaining a point on a service error, the Lady Cats added two more points including a kill from Olivia Adamson.
With a 18-12 advantage, Rayne went on a 6-1 run to seal the 25-13 win.
The Lady Wolves opened the second game with an 7-1 run, sparked by three aces from Whitney Comeaux and a kill by Natalie Alleman.
The Lady Cats scored on a Rayne error to close the gap to 7-1, but the Lady Wolves then went on a 5-1 surge to push ahead, 12-2.
A pair of kills by Adamson excited the Lady Cats, but Rayne responded with a 6-0 run before a Adamson block.
Eunice scored on an error late in the contest, but the Lady Wolves went on a 5-0 run to seal the 25-5 win.
Rayne opened the third game with a 4-1 run before the Lady Cats scored on an error and another Adamson kill to close the gap to 5-3.
A 7-3 surge by the Lady Wolves was aided by an ace from Butler along with kills by Destini Carrier and Kenedie Bourgeois.
Eunice took advantage of several Rayne miscues to close the margin to 14-9, but the Lady Wolves responded with kills from Savanna Lacombe andTiesha Young to push ahead 22-9.
Caroline Mire scored on a kill for the Lady Cats and Eunice later added two points to keep the game alive, but a hit into the next sealed the 25-13 win for Rayne.
Eunice (1-12) visits District 3, Division III leader Iota (20-3) at 4 p.m. today.
