A field of dreams for Church Point

The Church Point Bears baseball team finally has its own place to call home.
“Now we will have everything on campus,” Church Point athletic director J.C. Arceneaux said of the new field. “It is something that is ours - something to be proud of.”
Arceneaux said the new complex could help propel the Bears to future success.
“It is going to be first class and very classy,” Arceneaux said. “It has a great backdrop to enjoy.
“The outfield is completely wrapped by all those trees,” he said. “It will be a beautiful hitting background.
“Once we get the lights in there and we are able to play some evening games it will be a great atmosphere to play at that park,” Arceneaux said. “It is a great addition to our campus.”
For years, the team played its home games a couple of blocks away at the Church Point city complex.
But that will soon change.
“I know it doesn’t look like it right now,” Arceneaux said. “But this field will be ready real soon.”
The Bears finished 10-14 overall, 6-4 in District5-3A play last season.
Church Point fell 7-1 at E. D. White in the opening round of the playoffs.
