Now there are two Tigers that caught the attention of the Houston Astros.
Alex Bregman was the second pick in the 2015 MLB draft on Monday night and Houston was quick to select the LSU shortstop.
On Tuesday, with the No. 259 overall pick in the ninth round of the draft, the Astros picked Tiger senior left-handed reliever Zac Person.
Person, who went 17-0 in two seasons at LSU Eunice before arriving at LSU, goes into Omaha and the World Series with a 2-0 record and a 3.34 ERA, striking out 34 batters in 29.2 innings pitched.
At LSU Eunice, Person finished with 143 strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA in 118.1 innings.
Person is the third Eunice High baseball player to be selected in the draft, following Stuart Turner in the third round in 2013 to the Minnesota Twins and Chris Fruge in 1988 by the Chicago White Sox in the 28th round.
