70 pounds of coke seized from plane at Baton Rouge airport

Police say it was enroute from Colorado to Georgia

Louisiana State Police Narcotics agents along with Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (Office of Air and Marine Operations/Office of Field Operations), Baton Rouge Police Department and Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Police seized over 70 pounds of cocaine from an airplane that landed at Baton Rouge Metro Airport on Tuesday.
State Police Narcotics agents were notified by Homeland Security Investigations that they were tracking a suspicious aircraft. The airplane (a Beechcraft 58P Baron) began flying from McAllen, Texas, and was destined for Atlanta, Ga.

Vincenzo Salzano, 55, of Aurora, Colo., identified himself as the co-owner of the airplane. Salzano gave agents permission to search the aircraft and upon doing so, they located nearly 72 pounds of cocaine.
Agents learned that Salzano and his son-in-law, Mohammad Nekouie, 32, also of Aurora, hired a pilot to fly them from Texas to Georgia. Salzano’s son Armando Salzano, 32, of Littleton, Colo., was also aboard the airplane. Both father and son, along with Nekouie, were placed under arrest. They were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
