Alderman pleads to interfering with arrest, fined $100

An alderman has been fined $100 or 15 days in jail after  pleading guilty to interference of a police officer Wednesday.
Lastevic Cottonham was arrested May 27 for interfering with deputies of the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office during an arrest.
He has until Dec. 4 to pay his fines.
The misdemeanor conviction should not affect Cottonham’s ability to serve on the Jonesboro Town Council. He was elected in 2010 as the alderman-at-large, edging out incumbent Randy Shows by just 40 votes.
He is up for re-election next fall.
