Two seeking House District 49 seat

There will be two people running for the District 49 State Representative seat next month.
Qualifying ended Friday and Blake Miguez from New Iberia and John Bering from Jeanerette qualified to run.
Bering ran against and lost to Simone Champagne three years ago.
These two men, both Republicans, are running to fill the unexpired term of Simone Champagne.
Champagne stepped down in December after serving the district for seven years to take a government post in Youngsville. She has one year left on her term.
The next regular election will be in October.
