VFW award

St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz was awarded the 2015-2016 Post Commander Golden Award from the VFW Eunice Post 8971 of Eunice on Oct. 3. Post Commander Terry Matte and Quartermaster and District Inspector Roger Veillon awarded Guidroz the service award for the sheriff’s dedication to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office transports disabled veterans to the VA hospital on a daily basis and utilizes the department inmate work crews to assist in the upkeep of the VFW hall and grounds.  Guidroz said, “I want to take this time to thank our veterans for their service to our country, without them our country would not be the land of the free and the home of the brave.  I am deeply honored to receive this award.  Each and every day, we should all pay honor and respect to the men and women of our military wherever they may be.”
