Ceremony to honor veterans at VFW Friday

There will be a Veterans Day outdoor ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday at the VFW tank memorial, located at U.S. 190 East.
Local veterans will be honored and recognized by the post. The ceremony is sponsored by VFW Post 8971, DAV, and American Legion Post 129.

Republican Donald Trump won the electoral college with 279 votes to Hillary Clinton’s 228 votes in Tuesday’s election, but in Louisiana and St. Landry Parish the Trump-Michael Pence ticket was a clear favorite.

Eunice Player’s ‘Black Coffee’
Eunice Players’ Theatre will present “Black Coffee” an Agatha Christie comedy murder mystery.
Show dates are tonight Nov. 15, 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. There will be a Nov. 13 -2 p.m. matinee.

Edwards: Cuts may worsen, but no special session

Given the mounting concern over the state’s incoming revenue this fiscal year, several conversations at high levels have been had about a potential special session of the Louisiana Legislature, but it’s unlikely that one will actually be called, according to Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
