Grant Owen Clancy

Eagle Scout Award to be presented

Grant Owen Clancy, 15, of Eunice has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award.
Clancy will be recognized in ceremonies on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at Lakeveiw Park.
A member of VFW Post 8971, Troop 425, Clancy is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Randy Leger.
Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church, or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle; Clancy chose to paint the parking lines and curbs in downtown Eunice.
He has served as Senior Patrol Leader on many camp outs, a Brotherhood member of Order of the Arrow and received VFW District Scout of the Year-2013-2014. Clancy is the only youth leader to receive the Scout Master award at Mt. Bayou Boy Scout Camp and participated at National Jamboree in West Virginia last summer.
Clancy works at Lakeview Park as a life guard and gate assistant. When he is not working there, he volunteers for special events including the haunted house and boucherie. Clancy also works at the VFW and helps clean the Prairie Cajun fields.
Clancy is a freshman at Eunice High School, and the son of Jeff and Jennifer Clancy.
