Lady Bobcat softball team members recognized included Kim Fontenot, outstanding defensive player; Alicia Ortego, coaches’ award; Amy Thibodeaux, outstanding offensive player; Megan Crawford, sportsmanship award; and Amanda Reviere, scholastic award.
Ed Cormier was named St. Edmund head fooball coach and athletic director by Principal Harry Summerlin. Cormier replaced Dan Christman who was leaving for a coaching position at Crowley High School.
Laura Theresa Rougeau was named valedictorian at Chataignier High School School.
Jeanne Menard signed with the University of Southwestern Louisiana track and cross country program. She was pictured with Coach Paul Trosclair, Coach Durell Peloquin, Eunice High School Principal Johnny Bourque and her parents, Clay and Cora Menard.
Eunice High School valedictorian was Julianna Simon and salutatorian was Amanda Reviere.
St. Emund High School co-valedictorians were Jennifer M. Ardoin and Paula Bollich. The salutatorian was Valerie Vige.
Wal-mart announced its intention to build a 1.1 million square-foot regional distribution center. The center was built between Opelousas and Washington off Interstate 49 and continues in operation today.
