Experience Louisiana Festival less than a week away

Experience Louisiana Festival committee members Pat Dossman and Dwight Jodon gave one of the last festival updates to Eunice Rotary Club members on Wednesday.
“It’s a lighter mood,” Jodon said. “Things are really falling into place. It’s getting to the fun part. This is the part where the club owns the festival.”
During the meeting, Jodon showed club members a map of the festival grounds, images of the festival’s t-shirts that will be for sale, coozies that will also be for sale and videos of the festival’s television commercials.
A few more additions to the festival announced by Jodon and Dossman include the Camp Coushatta area where there will be demonstrations on tomahawk throwing, pine needle baskets and jewelry making. There will also be an Ag Village with a petting zoo.
“No one better try to run off with the petting zoo turkey with Thanksgiving on the way,” Dossman said.
On Sunday, a Trail Community Bike Ride will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday, and there will also be a Latin Mass at LSUE Catholic Center at noon. Bishoff Honey will have a display with live bees at their booth during the festival. The event will have 18 food booths, and food vendors are coming from as far away as Texas and New Orleans. Dossman and Jodon said they are still working to aquire a charging station for attendants to charge any electronics.
Jodon solicited several Rotary members to help trim the grass in the festival area Friday afternoon. Setting up for the festival begins Monday, and the grass in the festival’s stage area will be cut once more the day before the festival.
