Bunkie Mayor Garcia has ordered police to pick up all loafers who cannot show they are gainfully employed, men or women, and put them to work or put them in jail.

A requiem mass was held for Joseph Frey of Mowata, whose parents were informed that he was killed in action in the Southwestern Pacific on July 19.

Pvt. Clyde Reddick, whose widow Elta and son live at 320 Mallet, was killed Sept. 15 in the European Theatre. 

Extensive improvements are being made on the Champion Rice Mill, adding about 7,000 bags to its milling capacity.  L.A. Villaret is manager.

Major Elza LeDoux of Eunice, pilot of “Major Ball”, was quoted by the Associated Press after a Flying Fortress bombing raid over Germany.

T/Sgt. William Clark, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Clark of Eunice, was heard in a radio broadcast from the Aleutian Islands, talking about his experience in raiding the Kurile Islands of Japan and the waves of Japanese fighters the Liberator bombers encountered.
