Man allegedly slips grandma dope, while he smokes toys in the attic

An Arnaudville man allegedly spiked his grandma’s food with narcotics so she would sleep while he smoked meth in the attic.

St. Landry Sheriff’s Capt. Megan Vizena said Monday that the department received a tip that the 78-year-old woman was being abused.

Investigators learned the woman had given Todd Richard, 34, more than $7,000 since January to pay her bills but discovered recently, when her water was turned off, that he had not done so.

During an interview, Vizena said, Richard told investigators he had slipped narcotics into the woman’s food to make her sleep while he played with his toys in the attic.

He is charged with cruelty to the infirmed, exploitation of the infirmed and distribution of Schedule II CDS.
