Too much TV lands three in Jail?

Too much television can be bad for some people.
One 55-inch television appeared to be too much for a trio of would-be shoplifters on Friday.
Officers responded to Walmart in reference to alleged shoplifters who tried to steal a 55-inch TV, according to a Eunice Police Department press release issued on Monday.
Police said that the suspects left the premises when Walmart employees attempted to detain them. Shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Friday, a phone call was made to police in regards to a report of shoplifting at the store.
A description of a gold-colored Toyota Camry was given along with a description of the three suspects. Officers then stopped the suspect vehicle in the 1800 block of West Laurel Avenue and detained them.
During the investigation officers learned that Dexter Gallien and Crystal Calais allegedly loaded the 55-inch TV into a shopping cart. The pair also picked up a bed linen and comforter set along the way, then attempted to exit the store without paying for any of the items.
According to police, when employees attempted to detain the individuals they left the TV but continued to the vehicle with the linens and other items.
Meanwhile, the driver of the suspect vehicle, Andrew Latiolais, went to the deli and ordered lunch then exited the store without paying for the food. When officers stopped the vehicle the stolen food from the deli, bed linens, and a karaoke machine were recovered from the vehicle.
Any alleged weekend plans that the trio may have had in mind were thwarted by police when all three were placed under arrest and transported to Eunice Police Department for booking.
The suspects appeared before 27th Judicial District Judge James Doherty Monday morning and bond was set. All three remain in the Eunice City Jail. The value of the stolen merchandise totaled over $700.
