Their chance for an undefeated season ended last Friday in the 34-10 loss to Crowley.
But the Bobcats still have plenty of motivation as Eunice entertains Rayne for homecoming Friday.
“We had some break downs and lost our composure against Crowley,” Eunice head coach Paul Trosclair said. “We weren’t ready for that test but hopefully we will rebound and be ready for the next one.
“I think the guys haven’t been distracted by the homecoming activities.”
The Wolves (1-3) grabbed their first win last week with a 48-26 victory over DeQuincy.
Rayne opened the season with losses to Church Point (27-26), St. Louis (27-19) and Breaux Bridge (21-20).
“They have a really good football team but they have lost some really close games,” Trosclair said.
The Wolves rolled up 484 yards of total offense, while DeQuincy finished with 242 yards rushing and 139 more through the air.
Rayne running back Trent Winbush had 97 yards on six carries with touchdowns runs of 20, 11 and 37 yards.
Winbush also had a 9-yard touchdown catch from Jaylon Reed.
Reed completed 6-of-12 passes for 118 yards with two scores and an interception.
Deontrey Wilridge gained 114 yards on 18 carries with a 7-yard touchdown run.
“They have a good quarterback and good running backs,” Trosclair said. “They also have a good tight end and their offemsive line really moves off the ball.”
Rayne head coach Curt Ware is a former Bobcat assistant coach and Trosclair said that helps the rivalry.
“The two programs know each other well,” he said. “It will make for an interesting match-up.
“I think we will play a lot better than we did against Crowley.”
Eunice quarterback Alex Richard has completed 40-of-58 passes for 728 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception.
Bobcat runningback Nick Powell has 334 yards on 58 carries with five touchdowns so far this season.
Terryl Poullard (18-243, 1 TD) and Travis Godfrey 12 - 257, 4 TDs) are the top two Bobcat receivers.
