BATON ROUGE – New seasonally-adjusted federal data for 2015 show Louisiana lost more jobs than earlier estimated, in large part weighed down by the impact of low oil prices, a news release from the Louisiana Workforce Commission stated.
The St. Landry Parish workforce dropped by 2.9 percent from January 2016 to January 2015, according to federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In January, there were 32,230 people working and 2,742 people unemployed, which totaled 32,972 people.
Unemployment rates in the Tri-Parish dropped in December, but the decline was accompanied by a loss of jobs, according to not-seasonally-adjusted data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
